I just love the Fall. The leaves are so pretty and I feel like everyone is in a better mood. I also am obsessed with leggings and boots, so the Fall lends itself to lots of days in these clothing staples! I also love all the traditions/events that come in the Fall–PSU football, Giants Football, THANKSGIVING, pumpkin picking and really all things pumpkin related. For the past 6 or so years we have had a tradition with one of our family friends to take their kiddos for the day and go pumpkin picking. They have two daughters and one son, and we always have the best time. Something about seeing things and enjoying them through a child’s eyes always makes it more fun in my opinion. I actually had the funniest experience the other day when I took my car to get a bath and the little boy in front of me was so excited to be at the car wash. He literally stood at the area where you wait for your car squealing with excitement because he just couldn’t wait for his car to come out all clean. It was so funny how something as simple as washing your car, can be the event of the day for a 4 year old.
Anyways, we always go to the same pumpkin patch at Schaefer Farms in Flemington, NJ (http://www.schaeferfarms.com/fall.php). It is such a cute place to pick pumpkins because they take you on a hayride out to the patch and then they have pumpkins of all sizes and shapes and even some cool gourds. After pumpkin picking there is an area with games, which the kids (and Dan) love. They usually have a little moon bounce and pony rides and some deliciously, unhealthy treats (ie. fried oreos, funnel cakes, and everything else that would make a heart surgeon cringe!!!) They also have a farm stand with some different fun items to purchase. I almost forgot they also have a whole bunch of farm animals that you can feed and pet. It just a really fun time, so if you are looking for a fun, fall weekend– I would definitely recommend Schaefer Farms. We are never disappointed!
The other new thing I am trying with my sister and her twin girls is Baby Yoga! My sister asked if I would do it with her after she attended a Moms of Multiples meeting (http://www.hcmom.org) and learned about this class. It sounds like fun and I am excited to try it out with her and my nieces! Here is a link to the studio that offers this class (http://beherenowyoga108.com) if you are interested in trying it!
Since it’s the weekend I asked Jaclyn for another weekend cocktail for those who are so happy that it is finally FRIDAY!
1 part J.P. Wiser’s Rye, Spiced, or 18 Years Old Whisky
1 part Campari
1 part Dubonet Rouge (or sweet vermouth)
Add all ingredients to a cocktail mixer filled with ice. Stir for 30 seconds and strain into a rocks glass filled with ice. Garnish with an orange peel.
Thanks for reading and have a fun WEEKEND 🙂
