Dealing with Mean People & Weekend Recap!

So I got my first hate mail regarding my blog yesterday morning.  I have pretty tough skin, but what bothered me was that whoever anonymously sent this email to me said they felt my blog was vain and said “I would rather be single than getting advice from you.”  As much as I don’t love negativity, I feel the need to address this.  First the claim of my blog being vain, I am sorry if anyone feels that this blog is vain–that is not my intention.  Secondly, if you would rather be single than getting advice from me–more power to you, I think everyone should enjoy their single life.  Also advice is what it is, you do not have to listen, nor do you have to read my blog if you really feel that it is that it is awful and you need to send me an anonymous email telling me to do everyone a favor and get off Facebook.  Facebook is a two way street, anyone that does not want to read what I have to say can either a) not click on my blog or b) unfriend me.  The last thing that bothered me is that people go online and create fake accounts to knock others down.  It’s honestly really lame, if you really feel that strongly about me or what I write, why don’t you just email me from your email with your actual name instead of going through the trouble to mask your identity to attack mine?  Seems a bit cowardly, if you ask me…

Anyways, now that that is addressed, I had a really fun weekend!  Each year for my birthday I always go out with my family to hibachi because I am secretly a 14 year old stuck in a 29 year old’s body.  Hibachi never gets old in my mind and the food is usually delicious.  On Saturday, we tried Arirang, a hibachi place in Mountainside (  We decided to try it because we pass it often when running errands and I wanted to see what their take on hibachi would be!  We really loved it.  I especially liked that when I called ahead to see if we needed a reservation, they had a call-ahead list, which they put us on and then when your entire party arrives–their policy is to seat your group within 30 minutes.  They also must limit the number on the call ahead list because they told us our name would be put on for 5:30.  I liked this system.  They also used text messaging when our table was ready, which was nice because we just relaxed at the bar while we waited.  If you are planning on trying it, I highly recommend calling ahead–when we got there, there were quite a few parties, and when we were actually seated, the entire lobby was almost full.

We also saw the new Bradley Cooper movie Burnt.  I really liked it.  It was a little different than I expected, but I liked the plot and I especially liked watching how carefully they plated each entree.  It also made me have even more respect for those that work in the restaurant industry.  I loved working at a restaurant when I was in college and high school, however, it is a very demanding job and can be tough on families, as seen in the movie.  Anyways, if you are looking for a good movie, we both really liked it–my only advice would be to eat before you go see it because otherwise you will end up starving watching it.  Very similar to how I feel when we watch Diners, Drive-In’s and Dives.

On Sunday, we went to our very first Meadery ( with our friends Ashley and Andrew.  It was so much fun!  This was my first time trying or ever hearing of meade.  It is an alcoholic drink made from fermented honey & water along with other natural flavors.  My favorite Meade was the Rhapsody which is a dry meade with fresh raspberries.  It was seriously so delicious and it reminded me of a drink with muddled fresh raspberries.  We laughed because this Meadery has a very interesting location in the back of a shopping plaza.  It was a little tricky to find, but so worth figuring it all out!  We all ended up joining the club because we loved the Meade so much. We can’t wait for our first shipment of 6 different meades.  Thanks Ashley for planning another fun excursion for us!  We came back to our house after and ate some short ribs that I put in the crock pot before heading to Melovino.   I am going to post the recipe for the short ribs tomorrow on the blog!

Hope you all had a nice weekend and got to relax a little!

Thank you for reading and have a fun day 🙂
