Christmas Cookie Time!!!

I can’t believe it is already time to start baking Christmas Cookies!!! I love baking cookies and Dan loves eating Christmas Cookies, so it works out very well…

Today I am going to share a recipe for cookies that my mom has made for years and they are always my absolute favorite!!! If you came to my shower, you already received this recipe on the favor, but I am sharing it again for those who weren’t there (or lost or forgot their favor)!

Dishpan Cookies:

  • 2 Cups of Brown Sugar
  • 2 Cups of White Sugar
  • 2 Cups of Crisco Oil
  • 4 Eggs
  • 2 Teaspoons of Vanilla
  • 4 Cups of Flour
  • 2 Teaspoons of Baking Soda
  • 1 Teaspoon of Salt
  • 1 six ounce bag of Chocolate Chips (you can use more if you like lots of chocolate)
  • 1.5 Cups of Oatmeal
  • 4 Cups of Corn Flakes
  • 3/4 Cups of Chopped Walnuts

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.  Mix the first five ingredients in a BIG bowl and create a creamy mixture.  Stir in the remaining ingredients and mix it all together (this is where I like to enlist the help of Dan because it gets very hard to mix).  You may want to use your hands to make sure that all the ingredients are mixed through. Make balls of the cookie dough and place onto cookie sheet.  You will need to flatten the cookies before baking them.  We use to use a spoon, fork, or the bottom of a glass.  Bake the cookies for 8-12 minutes depending on your oven, cookie sheet, and how crispy you like your cookies.

Now, once they come out, try not to eat all of them!  It’s a challenge!
