It is so crazy to me that 2015 is a thing of the past. It was such a great year in my life, one in which I gained a really amazing husband and became a first time auntie to two of the cutest and most lovable little nieces. As much as I loved wedding planning and continue to blog about it, let me tell you, I am pretty happy that I can cross that off my list!
It is so nice to have a year where I can look back and say, “Wow, that was a good one!” I have to be honest and say, I haven’t always felt that way. I have certainly had my years where I have said to myself “Thank God that one is over, on to the next!” Life isn’t always rainbows and butterflies and is definitely not always easy. I think the best part of this life we are fortunate to take part in, is that only you can make your life change. It’s not always easy or a simple quick fix, but it is YOUR life and you can make a few small changes to make yourself a better person and force yourself to enjoy your life a little more.
One area that I think most people forget the impact of is your inner circle, or your #SQUAD. It is so easy to surround yourself with people that you have always surrounded yourself with, this however, doesn’t have to be the case. I choose to surround myself with people that make me a better person, or at least I try. Every so often one of those awful, miserable humans makes a guest appearance in my life, but I just try to smile and move on. I love positive people, even though we aren’t all necessarily happy in life and it is inevitable that we will all have at least a few bad days, I prefer to surround myself with people that see the silver lining. Life is way too short to surround ourselves with people that bring us down. If you feel like you are always down, try to make a new friend, a friend that will lift you up and introduce you to all of the wonderful, simple things in life.
I am so excited that I will be spending my New Year’s Day with one of the most positive, uplifting and downright hilarious friends in my life–one of my besties- CHRISTIAN! I met Christian freshman year of high school, and have been lucky to keep her as one of my very best friends for the past almost 16 years! It is insane when you start to think about how long you have known certain people. Christian has saw me through so many ups, downs, and in betweens. I am so thankful for her friendship and sweet, kind heart. Although, we live in different cities, I know that if I needed anything at all my critter is just a phone call/snap chat/text message/facetime away. I am so excited for 2016 as this is the year that Christian will get married to her puppy daddy, Brad. It is going to be such a fun celebration of two great people and I can’t wait to stand by her side through it all!
I hope you all had a fun and safe New Year’s Eve and are spending your New Year’s Day with those that make you a better person.
Thank you for reading and have a fun WEEKEND 🙂
Here is my picture of the day…
