This weekend was quite fun! Saturday morning started with a consultation with California Closets, which was my big Christmas gift from my wonderful hubby. I love our house, I really do, but my closet was a bit of a challenge. For those of you that haven’t seen our house, we have dormers on the front, which I found super charming when we were house hunting. The only problem with the dormers is that they lead to some odd shaped walls and interesting spaces on the inside of our house. My closet is one of those interesting spaces. Our house was also used as a rental prior to our purchase, so I think a lot of the fixtures and what not were somewhat thrown up there just so that renters had a place to hang clothes. I was constantly unsure of how to properly utilize the space that we have. My closet was technically sold as a walk-in, however, with all my junk- walk in it was not!
Dan thankfully heard my cries for better organization and also realized that the shape and existing structure for my closet is a bit confusing, and would be a bit difficult for us to properly utilize the space. He scheduled a consultation with California Closets for me, and let me tell you, I would HIGHLY recommend utilizing this service. Jennifer arrived early and ready to work. She was truly great and super nice, as well. She asked great questions about what kind of things I wanted to store in my closet, how I liked to hang my pants, and about how many shoes/purses I had. I laughed when she asked me how many shoes and purses, and told Dan to cover his ears. In my opinion, there is no such thing as too many shoes…
Anyways, after she figured out what I was looking to store and the frequency of my use of the space we went upstairs and she started measuring. She then created a 3-D model on her computer and then started showing me different options for storage. It was so awesome. I felt like I was on HGTV, and was smiling from ear to ear. We were laughing about how as you get older, it is so funny to see the things that get you excited. I can’t wait to get organized and have a closet that I love. It is funny because Dan is also so excited, even though his stuff won’t even be stored in the closet. Overall, it was just a really great experience. If you are having trouble making sense of your space, I highly recommend at least sitting down for a consultation. My mind was blown with all the possibilities. Jennifer was able to give me an additional 9 ft. of hanging space with my new closet design…what more could a girl ask for!? Once it is all installed and I put my things away, I will post a picture of the finished product!
After our closet consultation, I went over to help with the adoption event for the dog rescue that I volunteer with Home for Good Dogs. It was another hugely successful event. It really warms my heart and of course I love playing with all the dogs. There is usually one dog from the event that tears at my heart strings, and this week it was Flo. Flo is a beautiful girl that just wants to be loved. She could tell I was the “sucker,” and would bark at me every time I walked by her crate. Flo has the most gorgeous coloring and eyes–when she looks up at you, she grabs your attention and it is hard to look away. I just love her. I took her for a couple walks during the event and she was amazing on the leash and when I decided I wanted to take her picture, she sat on command, and posed like the pretty lady she is! If only Dan would let me take her home…for now I will just dream!
We finished off Saturday night with a trip to the city to surprise one of my very best of friends, Chris. Chris is just the best, there is no other way to put it. He makes me laugh hysterically and is always down for a fun dinner or when you just need to chat. I am grateful that we have stayed friends since PSU! Jackie and Jeff hosted the surprise party and did such a great job. In honor of Chris turning 30, they filled their apartment with all of his favorite foods and cute decorations. It was so fun and I came home so full, of food and love for my friends. It was also so exciting because my friend Justine and her fiancé, Bryan, were there for the first time in NYC following their engagement. It was so fun to hear their excitement and ideas for their upcoming wedding next April. I just love weddings, especially when it is one of my best friends!!!
I hope that you all had a wonderful weekend filled with lots of love and laughter!
Thank you for reading and have a fun day 🙂
