I just love Fridays, as I am sure most of you do. I love them because I get to take a mental check out of the craziness that is the work week, spend time with the people that I love, but even more so I really look forward to scouring the internet for a story that makes me feel good and sharing it. I saw this story earlier on in the week and it made me stop and think. Here is the link to the story I am referencing: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/compassionate-teen-seen-spontaneously-praying-for-homeless-man_us_56def904e4b03a405679fa9d?cps=gravity_2082_-631786099335803389
This story is short and sweet, but what was the most impactful for me was the picture. This picture was shared out of Baltimore and shows a teen that took a second to stop and pray for a homeless man on the street. Unfortunately, I find that our media is too often flooded with stories about negativity and teens getting in trouble, or easily getting out of trouble like that affluenza kid. Here is a story about a class act, a teen that took time out of his day to pray for someone less fortunate in a bad spot in their lives.
These are the kinds of stories that should be more widespread. If the media took the time to recognize teens like this, maybe more would try to emulate this young man’s actions. It is so important as a parent to lead by example and share positive stories and pictures. Although there is the saying, do as I say not as I do, you are you child’s first role model–so make it count.
This weekend I encourage you to look around and see the good in people and to create good situations for yourself, your friends and your family. We are off to VT tonight to celebrate my brother-in-law’s birthday and spend time with our family! We are so excited!!
Well that is all I have for today!
Thanks for reading and have a fun WEEKEND 🙂
