I am writing this blog from 37,000 feet in the air on our way to Japan. My blogs these next few days are going to focus on our trip and our daily excursions. I love this blog because I can share whatever I want and I will always have it to preserve the memories I’m making.
We had an Uber pick us up for the airport and naturally I forgot my phone at the house. Thankfully I realized it when we were like .2 seconds from our house, so the driver turned around for me to grab it. I am so glad I realized and didn’t end up phone-less in Japan.
I was debating how to deal with the time change we will experience once we land and decided to try to adjust Tuesday night. I stayed up as long as I could, so I would be tired on the plane. I told my friend Justine that I hoped to pull an all nighter, but that didn’t exactly happen. I don’t know how I used to do it so easily in college, guess I need to come to terms with the fact that I’m not as young as I used to be. Anyways, I got about two hours of sleep at home and then slept on this plane for a little over 4 more. The flight in total is right under 14 hours, but they said that we are a little ahead of schedule.
Dan and I are so lucky that my parents offered to upgrade our seats for us so we could be in economy plus. We are seriously appreciating the extra 4 inches of leg room! As my father’s daughter…I also stalked the seating diagram and moved us so we have an empty seat between us. I’m pretty certain this is the BEST way to fly! Unless of course one day I get to fly first class again! My brother-in-law, Jon, let me use his upgrade one time in first class. I have to say I felt pretty important haha. Anyways, we are thoroughly enjoying economy plus. It is much more comfortable and thankfully my knees aren’t hurting.
I am also obsessed with the flight map tracker on planes like the one we are on. I like to know where I am and what route we are taking. We flew up and over Canada, Alaska, and now are crossing the ocean to Japan.
I still can’t believe this trip is already here. It has been a lot of work planning it all, but I can’t wait to experience and enjoy each city and the culture.
We land around 2 pm, local time. We have tickets to the Giants Baseball game for tonight. We are hoping we make it over to the Tokyo Dome to catch some of the game! I brought my Matsui tshirt jersey to wear to the game!
We are hoping to go over to the fish market Friday morning and just wander around Tokyo. We have some things in mind that we would like to see, but are always up for suggestions.
Hope you all had a happy Wednesday! I will be blogging along, as often as I can!
Thanks for reading and have a fun day 🙂
Unfortunately my pictures aren’t uploading from the plane. I will make up for it once we get to Japan!
