Day 4 (Kyoto)

Yesterday we left Yokohama by train to get to our next stop Kyoto. We took the bullet train from the Shin-Yokohama station, which was super easy and comfortable. We had an assigned seat which was nice. It took us about 2 hours and 20 minutes to get here.

We are staying at the Hotel MyStays, which is a nice hotel, but a bit smaller than our hotel in Yohohama. It was really hard for us to get a hotel when we were booking for Kyoto. Apparently this is their busy touristy time because of the cherry blossoms. It has been interesting though because we really haven’t seen many cherry blossoms. I think we are just a little off the beaten path where we are staying. I thought it would be a little bit prettier based on pictures we saw of Kyoto. We got to our hotel a little early so we went out for some ramen which was really delicious. I love how each place we try is a little different.

Once we checked in, we went to experience a traditional tea ceremony two subway stops from our hotel. It was really interesting to see all the steps that go into preparing matcha for guests. Dan got to prepare my tea for me, which was highly entertaining. He did a great job, it was delicious!

When we got back from the tea ceremony, I wasn’t feeling great, so we just relaxed because we have a big day planned for today. Dan got dinner from 7-11 because we were curious about why they loved it so much here.

Today we have a 9 hour guided tour of Kyoto planned. We are looking forward to seeing a bunch of temples and sites throughout the city. We will take lots of pictures and be sure to post about it tomorrow. We booked the tea ceremony and the guided tour through Viator.com. We will be in Kyoto for one more night and then we are off to Hiroshima.

Hope you are all having a nice start to your week.

Thanks for reading and have a fun day 🙂
